We are the Phoenix family!
Steve, 40, is a certified arborist in the Portland area and will be the point person to designing and building our homestead infrastructure. He will be tasked to studying building code, permits, and the flow of our property.
Wendy, 37, runs the day-to-day of house, homeschools Greyson, and works as an independent contractor in the wine operations and bookkeeping realm. She is currently taking courses in beekeeping and agritourism through Oregon State University (OSU). In the past she has made soap for our family and gifts for our friends, but we are going to start selling it as a side hustle as a revenue stream, a product that can be made and sold through the homestead one day.
Greyson, 6, is in kindergarten and our resident dirt expert. He needs very little to stay busy for hours, his imagination fuels him. He is working on his archery, stick sharpening skills, and taking note of the best places to put the trail cams.
Fiona, 2, is developing a wild personality – being dirty and having zero fear seems to be part of the process. She will be fun to watch grow on the property!
Ranger, 4, the dog, he is a episode all in his own, but we rescued this hot mess from the Payette National Forest where he appeared to be either abandoned or lost. He was so much work training him into the incredible creature he is today, and we love him so much.
The Ladies, our backyard flock. They are part of this family and possibly contribute the most to the city homestead by poopin’ breakfast day in and day out with no complaints. All we need to do is throw them some scraps from time to time. Call them by name: HeyHey, Smiley, Spikey, Pollo, and Noodle.
